Getting the job was never enough

For years, I helped women fix their resumes and land the role. And it worked. But the resume was never really the thing.

I'd watch a woman get the job, the title, the salary she'd been chasing, and realize she was still standing there alone. Still the only one in her family who'd made it this far.
Still figuring out the parts nobody warns you about, the money, the rooms, the weight of being first, by herself.
Fixing resumes couldn't fix that. So I went back to the drawing board and started building what actually would.

The First in my family to make it this far, and I'm building the room I wish I'd had on the way up.
If you asked me what it looked like when I "made it," I'd show you a picture of me: bald taper fade, hoops in, a set of stiletto nails that broke skin if you looked too close. Back then, "making it" meant job-hopping my way from my first tech job at $40K to $52K.

Then I learned how to build my professional brand. I went from that $52K job to a $68K role at Google, and TikTok recruited me directly for a total comp of more than $150,000.
I didn't chase it. The market came to me, once I figured out how to make it.

That brand took me further than a paycheck. I spoke at Sistas in Sales®, BaddieCon™, was featured in Essence®, and even hosted my own conference, 6 Figure Weekend™, built a seven-figure business, employed Black and brown women, and reached thousands through free career content.
FAST FORWARD TO TODAY
I finally had the salary I used to dream about. And somehow, I was still struggling.
I didn't know how to negotiate my equity, so I left thousands on the table. Investments and 401ks were a foreign language, so as fast as the money came in, it went right back out. I didn't know what to say when everyone around me suddenly needed something. I didn't even know how to date as the woman who out-earned the room.

I had the title and the check, and I was figuring all of it out alone, because I was the First. The first in my family and my circle to make this kind of money, and the first to learn the money was never the hard part.
That loneliness felt like a me problem. It wasn't. It's what happens to almost every woman who's the first to make it this far, and almost nobody talks about it.

So I became the one who does. I started sharing everything on TikTok, the wins and the parts nobody warns you about. A million women later, it had grown into something bigger than career advice. It became the room I wish I'd had.
